A Garden Party Marks a One Year Anniversary
August marks the one year anniversary of the total solar eclipse and garden party at the Syracuse Library. The Friends are co-hosts of the outdoor event on Friday, August 3rd from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. that celebrates more discoveries about our sun. The Parker Solar Probe is launching in early August. The library is offering drinks and a free cookie for dessert, so bring a lunch and relax over your lunch hour. Family friendly trivia and science activities accompany a special used book sale during the community yard sale.
The Friends have a busy weekend with the regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday at 10:15 a.m.
Thanks for a Great Reading Program
Professor Steve finishes out a Rockin’ Summer at the Syracuse Library with a high octane performance filled with fantastic science demonstrations. Families are invited to see Professor Steve on Tuesday, July 31st at 2 p.m. The children’s and young adult departments appreciate the support from merchants and organizations that provided resources to offer the incentives to help kids stay enthused about reading over summer break.
PICTURE: FrankenHowl, open mic night was rained out of the park, but the group got to be the first to use the moveable wheels on the bookshelves and the program was held in an appropriately spooky rainstorm. Some of the audience and readers are shown waiting for Friday night’s show at the Syracuse Public Library.
