Voters Registration
To register to vote it is required that you be a U.S. Citizen, 18 years of age by the time of the general election, a resident of the township for at least 60 days and a resident of the precinct 30 days by the day of the fall general election. Applications are available at the Syracuse Library, the township assessor’s office and the town clerk’s office. You must be registered at least 30 days prior to the election. Primary Election is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May of each year in which a general election is held, at which time state, country, city, town or township officials are elected. General Election is held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November following the Primary.
Driver’s License and Automobile Registration
Those who are new to the state of Indiana must obtain an Indiana Driver’s License and Register their vehicle within 60 days of their arrival to the state. Both a written and visual test must be passed. The old license, social security card, birth certificate and a bill with the new address are required. Instruction manuals may be obtained from the License Bureau or at the BMV website, www.in.gov/bmv. The closest BMV to Syracuse is 215 S. Lake St., Warsaw, IN 46580 and their phone number is 574-267-8881. They are closed on Mondays.
Automobile Registration
You can renew your license plate online at www.in.gov/bmv or at www.mybmv.gov; or you can visit the BMV located at 215 S. Lake St., Warsaw IN 46580.
Registering Your Boat or PWC IC 9-31-3
You must have an Indiana certicate of registration and a validation decal to legally operated a watercraft on public waters in Indiana unless:
- The watercraft is non-motorized (watercraft using an elctric trolling motor require registration.)
- It is registered in another state and has operated on Indiana waters for not more than 60 consectutive days.

Fishing & Hunting
A license is required in the state of Indiana for anyone over the age of 16 who wishes to fish. Anyone intending to hunt will need a license regardless of age. Licenses may be obtained at most sporting goods stores.
